5 out of 5 stars STILL enjoying my PEG-TJ37   May 3, 2010
Howdy Thompson
Hello I love technology but once I find a product I love there is no need for an upgrade. I thought I had lost my beloved PEG-TJ37 and I have found it! But with all my anal retentive in the world my manual/start up equip was not attached. Does anybody have one laying around they could scan for me? I would be extremely grateful because its one setting I am trying to figure out and I need manual...memory is not what it used to be...but anyway Thank you kind madam or sir who answers this.

4 out of 5 stars Takes a licking keeps on kicking!   June 27, 2009

I bought this a few years ago to replace one that got busted. the old one didn't have internet, but this one does. It has been great, my only complaint is now I can't get it too sync with my computer because the syncing software doesn't work with Vista 64 bit and they have no plans to update it. That is a real bummer, because replacing it with something newer would cost what? $500+/-. I haven't tried it with my Vista 32 bit notebook yet, because it has been sick, but soon. As near as I can tell it does pretty much anything you need. Not as slick as those new Iphones and blackberrys, but if it would sync with Vista it would be just fine.

Sony Clie PEG-TJ37/U Handheld, good product, but software is old, cannot access internet without closing my safety devices to log into lynsky2 remote.

4 out of 5 stars Still going   June 26, 2007

I've been running my Clie now for several years and have yet to have any of the major problems others complain about. I do occasionally have to do a hard reset but that's only when I'm surfing the internet and hit a page that's far more complex than my browser can handle.

The only major drawback I've run into with this PDA is the battery life. It starts off ok when you first get it but over time, it takes longer to recharge and delivers much less power per charge. When I first got it, I had no problem running the mp3 player for an hour or two. Two months ago I was lucky if I could run more than three songs before it drained out.

But there's always hope. You can buy replacement batteries online pretty cheap these days and they last a whole lot longer than the one that comes installed.

Decent memory, expandable memory sticks, good set of onboard software and I LOVE the little jog dial. Just watch out for that battery life.

2 out of 5 stars Started crashing after a year - Sony is no help   April 19, 2007
Michael J. Lipphardt (Cleveland, Ohio)
The TJ37 is, when it's working, a pretty nice PDA. The camera is so-so, but OK as an added bonus. Don't expect anything other than a blurry, blotchy sort of pic out of it though. Battery life is mediocre at best. The stylus is actually painful to use for more than a few minutes.

On the other hand wireless works well, although it's a battery hog, making a bad situation worse. The screen is clean and bright enough. The form factor is great. I love the roller wheel.

The TJ37 uses a Sony memory stick as addon mass storage, which is a minus. SD would have been better. The screws holding the unit together backed out and disappeared, and Sony wants $$$ for them.

After a year, mine started crashing hard and the only way to get it back is with a hard reset. Even after running it with just the pre-installed apps, it still crashes. Sony wanted more to fix it than it was worth. So it sits on my pile of dead hardware while I use a Tungsten E2 and enjoy hugely better battery life, no loss of data when the battery dies (which take some doing - I can go for several weeks on the Palm, just a couple days on the Sony), and an overall better experience. Too bad the Palm doesn't have a camera, but other than that it's a better machine than the Sony for considerably less money.
